Kick off 2020 with a darling week of adventure, creativity and recharging in Canary Islands guided by Tomás, an internationally awarded photographer local to the island.

$1460/person. Includes everything except flights.

The Experience

Spend 5 darling days - guided photography sessions included - exploring dense forest ravines, along sandy coasts, and through mountain villages in Gran Canaria with Tomás, an award winning photographer local to the island. At the end of the day, sojourn in the historic town of Agüimes in a traditional Canarian house away from the touristic resorts.

Tomás grew up in Gran Canaria and knows the island like the back of his hand. He'll take you exploring and shooting every morning and evening, teaching both the technical and theoretical aspects of landscape, portrait and street photography. Middays will be spent selecting and processing photos, taking naps or venturing into the village. Late evenings, you'll gather to review your work accompanied by a glass of wine, followed by freshly cooked dinners by a private chef (and Tomás himself!), plus fun times.

On Jan 5th, you'll watch the nation-wide parade, celebrating the Festival of the Three Magic Kings, the Kings' visit to Baby Jesus. Then head for more celebrations to continue capturing the festivities.

Required: A photo camera and your sense of adventure!

Meet Master Photographer Tomás

Tomás is a professional photographer based in the magical archipelagos of Spain’s Canary Islands, off northwestern Africa. He lived in Berlin for a few years but the beauty of Gran Canaria and its people brought him back. There’s perfect light to take pictures all year round, especially winter. Now, he starts his day early morning to capture diverse landscapes of the island - black lava, white sandy beaches, forests and mountains. If it’s not nature, he shoots portraits, people, places they live in or abstracts. He recently finished a photography book about the island (and you get a copy of it!).

Regardless of the subject, he focuses on finding metaphors to create a sense of mystery in his photographs. It’s this keen sense of observation along with his technical abilities that he loves sharing with others. His motto “the more you share, the more you receive.”

Magic of Gran Canaria

When you think of Gran Canaria, in the Canary Islands (Spain), imagine sun, the sea coming from every direction and joyous holiday festivities at this time of the year. The contrasting views extend into its natural landscape. Black lava rocks dot smooth white beaches. Waves of golden sand dunes spread out under a sheet of blue sky.

But that’s not all— dense forests, dramatic valleys, captivating geysers, charming villages. These contradictory surroundings offer fantastic settings for beginners and experts to test out and refine their photography skills.
