Let Go and Tango
- July 25, 2021
- 2PM - 3PM EST
Live from Buenos Aires
Tango is about connecting with one's own expression and discovering the relationship with others through a musical and emotional body language. Sophisticated, beautiful, dynamic and so much fun -- this is the perfect opportunity for those who’ve always dreamt about learning tango or wanted to visit Argentina to learn it!
This 60-minute session is designed so you can join without a partner, or as a couple.
On Sunday July 25th at 2PM EST, join VAWAA Artist Viviana, a social tango instructor and performer since 1993, born and raised in the tango capital of Buenos Aires. She has founded tango groups, taught classes, organized milongas and performed across Argentina, US and Europe. As a teacher, she is known for her charisma and infectious energy, making tango accessible to a wide audience by distilling its essentials.
We'll start with an introduction to the magic of tango, discussing how it came about as an international movement, as well as gender roles, and differences between social tango and show tango styles. Then, practice simple movements, steps, changes of direction, and postures with Viviana demonstrating live. She'll watch us practice and give feedback (yes, it works beautifully on zoom!). We'll listen to tango music and learn how to connect gracefully to it with different parts of the body. It will be a lot of fun for all levels!
If you are not in EST time zone, be sure to convert the time.
What you'll need
No shoes, just socks :)
How to join
We'll be hosting this VAWAA Online on Zoom. We'll send the link and details to join via email 1 day and again 1 hour before it begins.
Tango is in Viviana’s genes. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, mecca of tango, Viviana has been a tango instructor and performer since 1993. She has founded tango groups, taught classes, organized milongas and performed across Argentina, US and Europe. Between Argentine stage and social styles of tango, Viviana specializes in social tango. As a teacher, she is known to make this dance form accessible to a wide audience by distilling the essentials of tango. She focuses on connecting with one's own expression and discovering the relationship with others through a musical and emotional body language. As neuroscience suggests, she feels tango has the unique ability to produce large amounts of brain activity while maintaining a zen state of mind. It is sophisticated and challenging and can only be decrypted by getting immersed in Buenos Aires and understanding its culture, origin and constant evolution.
