Ready to host apprenticeships?
Submit your details through this quick application. We'll reach out if it's a good fit. Each application is reviewed individually by our team to ensure a high standard of learning in the studio.
VAWAA invites artists and makers from all backgrounds, regions, and disciplines who are passionate about sharing their craft. If you are a master of your craft and dedicated to teaching and preserving your work, we encourage you to apply.
As a VAWAA artist, you'll host one-on-one apprenticeships, where you work closely with a single guest at a time. The experience is fully personalized to the guest's learning goals, allowing for flexibility and creativity in how you structure the apprenticeship. For example, you could be teaching someone how to engage with your artform for the first time, helping a part-time artist take their skills to the next level, or perhaps collaborating on a project with a fellow professional artist.
We're here to help! Our team will support you in designing your apprenticeship program, guiding you through the process, refining details, and finalizing your VAWAA profile. We'll make sure you feel confident and prepared.
Guests range from seasoned creatives to first-time artists, all passionate about learning new skills. Whether they are looking for inspiration, focused learning, or to immerse in your craft, VAWAA guests are committed to the transformative experience of the master-apprentice tradition. Families, partners, or friends can also join together for an experience.
Yes, absolutely! You set your price and keep 100% of your earnings. VAWAA adds a small operational fee on top of your fee to cover guest coordination, marketing, and technology costs.
The duration of each apprenticeship is determined by you, based on how long it takes to teach your process. Most apprenticeships last 3-10 days, with 3-6 hours of in-studio time each day, though this can vary depending on your craft.
You must have access to a studio space that comfortably accommodates 1-4 guests and be able to host 8-10 VAWAA apprenticeships per year.
Accommodation is not required but can be offered for an additional fee if available.
Guests typically book 2-6 months in advance. You'll have access to an easy-to-update calendar, allowing you to manage and block out your availability as needed, so guests only book the dates you are available.
Basic English skills are helpful but not essential. Craft is a universal language that can be communicated through non-verbal cues and visual demonstrations. Most of our communications with you will be in English, but we also use translation tools when necessary.
We don't have an application process for guests, because we believe anyone eager to learn should have the opportunity. Only individuals who are genuinely interested in your craft book a VAWAA.
Yes! VAWAA is perfect for artists who want to offer one-on-one apprenticeships, while we handle all administrative tasks, guest coordination, and marketing. We're here to support you, so you can focus on your craft and teaching. Please note, VAWAA is not a listing service for your existing workshops.
Once you submit your application, we'll review it carefully and reach out to schedule an interview if we feel there's a good fit. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
