Meet the Artist

Ariane is a mixed media and fiber artist, most recognized worldwide for contemporary felt-making. She is also a teacher, author of fiber art books, and a trained architect and graphic designer. She combines graphic, textile, and mixed media techniques to create works that have a nonconforming, bold, and eccentric style.

Her expertise is creating felt with an exceptional density that is firm, non-piling, very thin, and fluid for clothing or sculptural for hats. She is also a master of combining felt with embroidery, paint, transfer techniques, paper, fabrics, printing, metals, ceramics, and enamels.

For Ariane, everything made with love and passion is art - she creates her famous sculptural hats and pictorial art vests in the same way as she does home décor, fiber paintings, and sculptures. Everything is a pretext to explore the world of possibilities and beauty.

Being in her studio is like immersing into an adventure land. She invites your inner child to play and create intuitively and spontaneously. And when she is not in her studio, she loves sharing and rediscovering Paris, the city she adores.

Explore Achères, Paris

Paris is the city of love, fashion, food, and art. Just strolling through the streets fills the inspiration tank. There are various art galleries to explore, expositions to visit, fabric stores for fiber addicts, and street cafes to take in life.

Ariane's light-flooded art studio is 35 mins train ride from Paris, close to the beautiful city of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. At the beginning of the XII century, kings came here to escape the "urban" life, enjoying French air with a stunning Panorama view of Paris.

It is ideal for those who enjoy seeing more authentic parts of Paris with easy access to a big forest, little lakes, and the Seine River for pleasant walks and bike rides.

If that's not enough, Versailles Palace and Gardens are 20 mins by car, and the enchanted Monet's Garden is 40 mins by car from Ariane's studio.

Additional Details

Paris is beautiful year round to visit, although Ariane loves spring and autumn the most. She also loves winter for felt making and creating as it's less tempting to go outside.
