Meet the Artist

Talia is an artist and teacher of Japanese ink painting with over 20 years of experience. She studied with Japanese master artists and calligrapher in London and Japan for over seven years. Learning and viewing original art in temples, shrines, private collections and museums was an essential part of the journey. She regards the masters of the past as her teachers of today.

Talia’s aesthetic sensibility is an exploration and reclamation of nature's patterns. She strives to reveal beauty and elegance within the natural rhythm of life and looks to her art as a place of well-being, empowerment and inner peace. She believes that Japanese ink painting is about capturing the spirited essence of the subject. It is not about replicating a blossom. It is about feeling and connecting with it, and giving it expression. This makes each artistic expression unique and special.

She uses her knowledge as a discipline and inspiration to direct her own creative work. And enjoys sharing her love and passion with others to emancipate the artist within, the creative mode that is within each one of us. Her studio inside the almond grove, by the Tramuntana mountains, is a perfect retreat setting to get absorbed in a creative adventure.

Explore Mallorca

Majorca is a Mediterranean island off the east coast of Spain. It has stunning beaches, gorgeous nature, and charming historic towns. No wonder it’s been the inspiration for generations of artists, from Chopin to Miro. You can visit its different towns to explore tiny Spanish cafes, tapas bars, bustling markets, and cozy artisan shops. Or you can sun soak at the beach and explore the many coastal caves and cliffs for stunning views.

Talia's studio is located inside a hundred tree almond grove, near the town of Alarò, by the foothill of the Tramuntana mountains. These mountains in the heart of Mallorca, are a world heritage site and unique in their outstanding beauty and power. The deep quietude and serenity that nature offers in this area is what drew her to this part of the world. It is an ideal place to retreat and paint.

Talia is extremely knowledgeable about her subject, and not only guided me through various techniques of sumi-e painting, building from one skill to another, but also provided in-depth explanations of the historical development of sumi-e, including the imp Read more
