An Easy Hands-On Approach to Essential Oils

Live from Los Angeles, United States

The world of natural aromas and essential oils is nuanced, rich, and beautiful. As VAWAA artist Persephenie says, “Scent is like music, it’s so subjective.”

Persephenie is a perfumer and incense maker specializing in natural materials. She opened her first aromatic studio in L.A. 17 years ago. Her love of scent began the first time she traveled to India, where she became fascinated by the olfactory and antiquated techniques of incense and perfumery. She enjoys researching recipes from cultures around the world, interpreting them, sometimes modernizing them, and of course, using stellar natural raw materials.

Join her on Thursday, August 6, at 3:00 PM EDT, for an easy hands-on approach to using essential oils at home. Learn how they’re made, how they can affect your mood, basic blending, safety, application, and ratios. We’ll focus on seven essential oils: lavender, eucalyptus, geranium, orange, rosemary, peppermint, and tea tree (although you'll only need three!). We’ll then make a simple yet dreamy blend and add it to our unscented base, whether it's bath salts, shampoo, lotion, liquid soap, or body oil.

Joining us from a different time zone? Be sure to convert the time.

What you'll need

  • Choose and bring three of these seven essential oils to work with: lavender, eucalyptus, geranium, rosemary, orange, peppermint, and tea tree. Please make sure your essential oil bottles have dropper tops to measure out in drops.
  • One unscented personal care product (4 oz or 100 ml), like unscented bath salts, shampoo, lotion, liquid soap, or body oil.
  • Notebook and pen

How to join

We'll be hosting this VAWAA Online on Zoom. You'll receive an email with link and details to join a few hours before it begins.

"This VAWAA was extensive and full of fun experimentation for my mum and I! Persephenie has an incredible breadth of knowledge, only matched by the wide range of her scent collection." - Zoe

Sessions are ticketed to support artists, makers and our small team. If you’re experiencing financial hardship, please reach out. We may have a generous participant who has paid it forward and would ask that you pay the love forward by sharing online sessions with 3 new friends.
