Making Marbled Clay Vessels

Live from California, United States

On Saturday November 13th at 3PM EST, join new VAWAA Artist and potter Elizabeth for a talk and live demonstration of how to make marbled clay vessels on the potter's wheel.

We'll be entering Elizabeth's Mojave desert inspired world of pottery with an introduction to her work and studio. Prepare yourself for a mesmerizing demonstration of how to marble two different clays together to create a unique vessel with a dramatic swirling pattern. It is not a sight to be missed!

This style of pottery is sometimes referred to as Agateware, referring to the semi-precious stone, and was popularized in 18th century England. Together we'll be learning specific tips and tricks for how to successfully create our own agateware on a potter's wheel.

If you are not in EST time zone, be sure to convert the time.

About Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a potter with a fine arts background whose work straddles the divide between pottery and sculpture, while drawing inspiration from the textures, colors, and shapes of the Mojave desert. Every object is handmade by Elizabeth on her potter’s wheel and fired in her studio. She finds harmony between her minimalist aspirations and maximalist tendencies by creating items that have clean lines and elegant forms but showcase a wide array of glazes with exuberant colors and rich textures. When she is not in her studio, she can be found hiking in Joshua Tree National Park, exploring the desert east of Wonder Valley, or sitting on her back porch watching the sunset. Besides that, she is a cat lover, Dodgers fan, likes to shoot pool, and dreams of owning a Datsun 240z some day.
