Primitive Printmaking and Playing with Textures

On Saturday, June 27, at 1:30 PM EDT, join VAWAA Artist and Spanish printmaker Roser for a fun session on frottage techniques. Frottage is an ancient primitive way to print, known as the earliest form of printmaking. The process involves transferring a design on paper by rubbing over a textured object placed underneath. These prints can be used as is, or you can use this technique on top of an existing artwork or as a background for another piece of art.

During the 75 minutes, we'll learn how to use this technique and play with different textured surfaces or simple objects found at home. By varying strength, length, and colors, you'll quickly realize that options are limitless which makes it a nice way to print! We'll also learn a non toxic process of preparing water-washable inks, and anyone with plates will have an opportunity to practice woodcut printing. No prior experience required, all levels welcome!

Joining us from a different time zone? Be sure to convert the time.
