I wanted to learn the fundamentals of papermaking and pulp painting from a true master, and understand how I could bring the medium into my own art practice. I was hoping to gain both the technical skills and enough confidence to continue experimenting independently in my own studio.

I made several pieces that I’m quite pleased with, but even more importantly, I’m learning how to adapt the practice so I can continue working with pulp painting in my own studio in Brooklyn. As with learning any new medium, the experience altered my perspective and expanded my sense of what’s possible within my own work.
