I started sculpturing only in the last few years and my only formal training has been workshops with established sculptors . I love Japan and the Japanese approach to building things, whether it is a building or building a piece of art . I had a hard time finding a sculptor or space that offered more than a one day workshop especially looking for hand building not working on a wheel.

I worked on a piece I never would have done previously, taken from an image of an antique Japanese mask. The techniques I learned while making it and the new tools I discovered will all benefit my sculptures moving forward.
