Rob & Julie
United States > > > with Loretta & Marlene in United States
We were able to slow down and focus on learning their quilting techniques for three days... and learn life lessons from Loretta and Marlene. All their wisdom, grace and stories go into the quilts and we felt honored to collaborate on quilts that we will treasure for generations. Staying at the house, with the cutest donkeys in the backyard, just down the road from the studio on the river was an extra bonus. We could feed the donkey's in morning and watch them run across the field and then drive the short distance to the studio. The time flew and Marlene and Loretta were gracious teachers and each have their own unique style. It was the first time I had made a quilt and my partner was an experienced quilter. They met us both at our experience levels and we were challenged in the best possible way. We also received a tour of the area and learned more about the history of the place and the community.
We would return over and over if we could and would stay longer next time. We hope to return for the Airing of the Quilts one day.
