I had a fun and productive VAWAA with Junpei! His studio, nestled into the forest of Ohara, is such a special place outside of busy Kyoto. Junpei's welcoming and friendly energy made me feel comfortable right away, and it was nice to get to know him and his practice while we worked side-by-side in the studio. I appreciate how the VAWAA is anchored around Jomon-style pottery -- it offered a connection to Japan's pottery tradition and deeper learning. I came to the class with some pottery experience, and the process we followed provided opportunities for me to deepen my skillset in building, decoration, and refining the final piece. I'm so proud of what I made.
