Meet the Artist
Mariadela is a textile artist weaving stories across continents, generations, and mediums. Originally from Caracas and now based in Barcelona, her life embodies the work she creates—full of color, memory and craft. As a child, she learned embroidery from her grandmother, eventually studying fashion and fine arts in Rome and Barcelona. Today, her works have been exhibited internationally in Milan, Paris, Brussels, Seoul, and London and have caught the eye of global design houses like Loewe and Inditex.
In her studio, Mariadela uses traditional high warp weaving and embroidery techniques fused with crochet, knitting, tufting, or textile assemblage to transform her ideas into lush tapestries and contemporary textiles. Her selection of materials, cotton, raffia, recycled fibers, shimmering metal filaments, along with biomaterials, wires, copper, bronze, and gold, helps her create woven stories extending beyond techniques.
Her ideas begin with technical research and expert use of tools like the loom and crochet hooks. She experiments with volume, layering, and tension, pushing the boundaries of the 2D elements traditionally associated with textiles. Transforming traditional weaving techniques into sculptural installations, she integrates soft textures and elements of light into each piece. Across her practice, Mariadela’s artistic language is a bold dance of old and new, functionality and poetry, and gestures of utility and expression.
For Mariadela, weaving is not only a technique but a language to connect with others. She welcomes learners from around the world into her artistic universe. A moment with Mariadela is an immersive, colorful, and expansive experience that reconnects you to your hands and a story to tell.

Explore Barcelona
Barcelona is a city where centuries-old tradition and cutting-edge creativity collide in vibrant, often unexpected ways. From the surreal curves of Gaudí’s Sagrada Família to the graffiti-lined alleys of El Raval, the Catalan capital pulses with artistic energy. Its museums—like the MACBA and the Picasso Museum—celebrate both local legacy and global experimentation, while its culinary scene, rooted in Mediterranean warmth, mirrors its cultural flair: bold, inventive, and deeply communal. Barcelona isn’t just a destination—it’s a living canvas.

The best time to visit Barcelona is in spring (April–June) or early fall (September–October), when the weather is pleasant, the city buzzes with festivals, and crowds are smaller. It’s best to avoid August, when the heat peaks, locals leave on vacation, and many businesses close.
