I love VAWAA as a way to travel, make connections, and have memories of making. Travel can be so consumer-oriented with all of the eating and looking and taking in, so I love being able to create and make something on a trip. I was looking for another way to connect to Barcelona and I think that was successful.

I love the rug that I tufted - I am using it in my classroom as our centerpiece when we do community building circles. It's also a great sample for our rug-making unit for my middle school art classroom. My class made a roving basketweaving project in my classroom and their baskets look so cool and sculptural. Next up, is a weaving project, also informed by the techniques and skills I learned with Mariadela.
