Creating and Drawing your Personal Mythology

VAWAA artist and Spanish illustrator, printmaker Iria creates surreal works of art mixing elements like human bodies, anatomy of wild animals, nature and literature icons. Her creative world is inspired by the magic of “Wunderkammer” and writings by Lewis Carroll, Mark Twain and Jules Verne.

Join her on Sunday, June 7, at 10 AM EDT, to create and draw your personal mythology. And then use art as a therapy to channel your emotions and create fantastical stories on paper.

We'll start with an introduction to Iria's creative method to identify our emotions and transform them into surreal drawings and illustrations. We'll go over basic drawing notions, essential materials, and the process behind some of her drawings. Then, we'll learn how to pull elements from our unconscious, archetypes, and dream symbols to create our mythology and stories. All levels welcome. Limited to 20 participants.

We'll reconnect 5 days later for 60 minutes, on Friday, June 12th, 12:00 PM EDT, to share our drawings, learnings, and feedback.

Joining us from a different time zone? Be sure to convert the time.

What you'll need

Drawing paper, pencil, and eraser.

"Iria is a very knowledgeable teacher who can teach you in a very practical, flexible and at same time precise way. You will see the life of a talented artist and you will feel motivated to continue with your own projects." - Adriana

"I am super grateful for learning a new craft from Iria, who taught me how to literally bring a woman to life...transforming the little lady from my paintings into sculpture form!" - Amy

Sessions are ticketed to support artists, makers and our small team. If you’re experiencing financial hardship, please reach out. We may have a generous participant who has paid it forward and would ask that you pay the love forward by sharing online sessions with 3 new friends.
