Secrets of Silk Painting

Live from New York, United States

VAWAA artist Linnea is an American master silk painter who specializes in the Serti technique of "fencing" using water-based resists. A working artist for 30 years, she started painting on silk over 15 years ago. Her years of experience working with art publishers to draw detailed scenes laid the foundation for her ornate silk paintings. She incorporates animals, architecture, and unique city scenes in her work, in addition to the more traditional floral designs.

Join her on Wednesday, July 8, at 12 PM EDT, for a talk and live demonstration from her home studio in upstate New York. She'll show us how to set up a silk painting from scratch, how to stretch silk, and how to apply the resist and the paint. She uses silk paint, not dye, and her process does not involve steam. Step by step, we'll watch her apply the resist with all the tricks she's learned and see how the paint interacts beautifully with the silk. Limited to 20 participants.
