Stretching the Imagination Through Line Drawing
- July 15, 2020
- 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM EDT
Live from Barcelona, Spain
VAWAA artist Yoshi is a Japanese illustrator, whose artworks adorn walls and windows throughout Europe with his dream world. His drawings are simple, easy to understand, while entangled by countless stories; tales that are full of mystery and symbolism from diverse backgrounds. Every time you observe his work, you find characters that you had not seen before, details that you had not captured.
While he has been experimenting with some colors since 2005, the core of his work remains primarily black or white. He believes drawing with a single color helps expand imagination and flex the mind; lines can be the shape of a bird and also represent a salmon! It is his life experiences, the interesting people he meets, and the exploration of his feelings that make up the very fabric of his creations and keep his inspiration going.
Join him on Wednesday, July 15, at 12 PM EDT, for a fun doodling and line drawing session. Together, we'll draw inside the shape of a dry martini cocktail glass (or pick any other shape). We'll add our favorite memories, objects, or animals and learn how to combine them. We'll realize that knowledge of shapes, perspectives, and any other drawing skills are not important! What IS important is the ability to improvise and doodle with our thoughts and techniques to discover our original style. Freedom is the core of our art. We'll leave with our original drawing and all levels are welcome.
Joining us from a different time zone? Be sure to convert the time.
What you'll need
3 pens (0.3, 0.5 and 1.2mm point if possible), pencil and blank papers.
