Kristine and Colin are such a fascinating artist couple, and their 4-day sculpture intensive in Santa Fe was a truly transformative experience. As a complete beginner, I wasn't sure what to expect, but Kristine’s warmth and expertise made me feel comfortable from the very start. The sessions were perfectly structured—running from 9:00 AM to about 1:30 PM—and included a wonderful setting and their lovely Doberman puppy who was amazing! We dived deep into the core techniques of hand-building with water-based clay, moving from initial concepts to clay sketching and finally building a full sculpture. I especially loved the freedom to experiment with different forms, from basic anatomy to more creative sketches. Kristine and Colin provide everything you need, from professional-grade tools to a beautiful studio space that is so full of light. They were also generous in sharing their amazing body of work and portfolio so that I gained extra insight into the creative life of two amazing artists! For anyone looking for a deeply thoughtful, creative apprenticeship that balances professional instruction with personal warmth, I cannot recommend this VAWAA highly enough. It was a perfect retreat for the mind and hands!
