Meet the Artist
Beverly is a colorist. She turns ordinary moments into the extraordinary with her vibrant color palette and bold style. Her oil paintings, which hang in many private collections all over the world, are inspired by the dramatic changes of the seasons, and the temperature and light of Napa Valley. Beverly’s style is reminiscent of the early California Impressionists. With bold compositions, unique strokes, and a personal collection of colors, she expresses the universal rhythms of rural life and her love of the countryside. The land itself and our place in it are her favorite themes.
As a student of Richard Diebenkorn in the early 1970s, Beverly was drawn to the qualities of the expressionists and colorists, and her work began an evolution into a vibrant style of her own. She traveled to vineyard regions of Tuscany and Umbria, painting the Mediterranean “colors.” It was this love of the wine country and the tranquility of rural life that brought her to the Napa Valley in 1983.
She starts her paintings with a loose composition, which gives her flexibility to add and subtract elements as she wishes. Starting with dark and muddy tones and moving toward light and brighter ones, Beverly builds colors until finally, after many sessions of layering, a painting emerges. She knows she is finished with a piece when she senses a vibrant, luminous quality which has brought her vision to life.
Beverly is known for her original approach to painting and will guide you as you explore your own techniques. She will help you "loosen up” by not following traditional step by step painting methods. To her, each painting is a journey without a known destination, full of surprises and happy accidents.

- Finding inspiration in Beverly’s creative studio space nestled in the Napa Valley foothills overlooking the vineyards.

- Techniques for working in acrylics or oil paint.
- Studio time to discover new ways of painting, with encouragement to experiment.

Stay at Beverly's
Stay in the charming guest cottage on Beverly's property. The cottage is fully furnished with a queen bed in the main bedroom and a single bed in the smaller room. There is one bathroom with tub and shower, a fully equipped kitchen, and laundry, TV and wifi. Relax in a gorgeous outdoor seating area under a 150 year old oak tree with a full view of Napa Valley. Continental breakfast is included.

In addition to being surrounded by world class beauty, there are unlimited places to explore and things to do all year round. You’ll discover unique restaurants, quaint boutiques, and of course plenty of opportunities for tasting some of the best wine in the world. There’s also hiking, live music and lots of art. From the many galleries featuring work by California artists, to the De Rosa museum where you can explore the foremost collection of contemporary Bay Area art, Napa Valley is an art lover’s paradise.

The best time to visit Napa is February through October. August to October is the region's harvest season.

Because of the studio's location, it is strongly recommended that guests plan to rent a car or book an Uber to travel from the airport to the studio.

Beverly was a great teacher. She had some basic skills lessons to begin and then we moved on to a pretty easy still life and then to a picture of our choosing.
